- This is not legal advice. LegalSimpler is a translation tool, not a lawyer. It helps you understand contracts — it doesn't tell you what to do.
- AI can make mistakes. Our analysis catches most issues, but it's not perfect. Complex, unusual, or jurisdiction-specific nuances may be missed.
- Always consult a lawyer for high-stakes decisions: signing employment contracts, real estate deals, business partnerships, or anything involving significant money.
- Use it as a first pass. Think of LegalSimpler as your smart friend who reads the contract first and highlights what to ask your lawyer about.
- We're not liable for decisions you make based on our analysis. You use the Service at your own risk.
1. Nature of the Service
LegalSimpler provides AI-generated analysis of legal documents for informational purposes only. The Service is designed to help users understand the general content, structure, and potential implications of legal documents by translating complex legal language into plain English.
2. Not a Law Firm
LegalSimpler is not a law firm, does not employ lawyers for the purpose of providing legal advice, and does not create an attorney-client relationship with any user. No communication through the Service — including AI-generated analysis, AI Chat Assistance features, or support responses — constitutes legal advice.
3. No Guarantee of Accuracy
While we strive for accuracy using multiple AI models and cross-validation techniques, AI-generated analysis may contain:
- Errors in interpretation of legal language
- Omissions of relevant clauses or implications
- Misclassification of risk severity
- Incomplete extraction of obligations or deadlines
- Incorrect or outdated legal terminology definitions
The Service should be used as a starting point for understanding legal documents, not as a definitive or complete analysis.
4. Professional Consultation Required
For important legal decisions, you should always consult a qualified legal professional. This includes but is not limited to:
- Signing employment contracts or non-compete agreements
- Entering into commercial leases or real estate transactions
- Forming business partnerships or corporate agreements
- Accepting terms involving significant financial obligations
- Matters involving regulatory compliance or government contracts
- Any situation where the consequences of misunderstanding are significant
5. AI Limitations
Our AI models, while sophisticated, have inherent limitations:
- Jurisdiction-specific nuances: Legal implications vary by jurisdiction. Our analysis does not account for local laws, regulations, or case law that may affect interpretation.
- Ambiguous language: Legal documents sometimes contain intentionally ambiguous language that requires human judgment to interpret.
- Complex multi-party agreements: Documents involving multiple parties, cross-references to other agreements, or intricate corporate structures may not be fully analyzed.
- Evolving law: AI models have knowledge cutoffs. Recent changes in law, regulations, or legal precedent may not be reflected.
- Non-deterministic output: AI may produce slightly different results when analyzing the same document multiple times.
- Language: The Service currently supports English-language documents only. Non-English documents or documents with mixed languages may produce unreliable results.
6. Document Types and Quality
Analysis quality depends on:
- Document formatting: Well-structured documents with clear sections produce better results than poorly formatted ones.
- Document length: Very short documents may not contain enough context for meaningful analysis. Very long documents may be truncated.
- Document type: Standard contract types (leases, NDAs, employment agreements) tend to produce better results than highly specialized or niche legal documents.
- Scan quality: PDF documents created from scans may contain OCR errors that affect analysis quality.
7. AI Chat Assistance Feature
The "AI Chat Assistance" feature available on paid plans provides AI-generated explanations and contextual answers based on the analyzed document. This feature does not constitute legal advice. It provides general, informational guidance that may be useful as a starting point but should always be verified with a qualified legal professional.
8. No Liability
LegalSimpler, its founders, officers, employees, affiliates, and contractors shall not be held liable for:
- Any decisions made based on AI-generated analysis
- Financial losses resulting from reliance on the Service
- Missed risks, deadlines, or obligations not identified by the AI
- Inaccurate severity ratings or recommendations
- Any consequences arising from the use or inability to use the Service
You use the Service at your own risk and acknowledge that AI analysis is inherently imperfect.
9. Indemnification
By using the Service, you agree to indemnify and hold harmless LegalSimpler from any claims, damages, or expenses arising from your reliance on AI-generated analysis or your failure to seek appropriate professional legal counsel.
10. Feedback and Improvement
We encourage users to rate analyses and provide feedback through the Service. This helps us continuously improve accuracy and coverage. However:
- Providing feedback does not create any obligation or liability on our part
- We do not guarantee that feedback will result in immediate improvements
- Feedback may be used to improve the Service for all users
11. Third-Party AI Providers
Our analysis pipeline uses third-party AI model providers. While we select providers carefully, we cannot guarantee their accuracy, availability, or data handling practices beyond our contractual agreements.
12. Changes to This Disclaimer
